After a year and a half of planning and the event kicking off in just three days, it’s all systems go with day one of set up for the Hobie® 16 World Championships well under way.
60 New Hobie 16 Catamarans are making their way down to the idyllic race location of Huskisson Beach, Jervis Bay, NSW. Having all been built locally at Hobie Australasia and with the Australian production team and the US contingent on hand to help in the set up process it’s been smooth sailing for this first part of the set up.
Hobie Masters Class Registration kicks off on Friday with 180 sailors set to descend on the beach to compete in the Hobie Masters Series from Saturday to Tuesday. The teams will be flying in from the far reaches of the globe with almost half the field made up by international competitors.
The weather has turned it on with a beautiful 29º making set up thirsty work and the wind is already up with a NE blowing 18–20 knots things are looking like they’re going to be exciting on the water.
All in all everything is coming together for what is set to be the largest Hobie 16 Worlds in history.
